AVS Fencing Take Security Up A Notch with Affordable Fencing Line

As the winter weather looks set to stay and the nights draw in, AVS Fencing, a leading provider of fence panels, wooden fencing & driveway gates and are encouraging homeowners to invest in some small home improvements that can make a big difference to not only the security of your home but its overall appearance.

According to west Sussex police, “Most burglaries are committed by opportunist thieves. In two out of 10 burglaries no force is used, they simply enter through an open door or window. It is very difficult to make your house totally burglar proof, but you can defeat most burglars. Looking at your home through a burglar’s eyes will reveal places they could break in unseen.”

Mark Whiting, marketing director of AVS Fencing who supply fencing panels and closeboard fencing said, “Now the clocks have gone back, attention often turns to security- if not for the actual protection it offers, but also for the peace of mind generated by taking a few simple steps to secure your property.

“Investing in timber security fencing and gates to the front of your property can not only protect you from opportunist thieves, but it will also act as a deterrent to would be burglars. Burglars will often decide to target your property from across the street, so if your garden and property looks easily accessible or unlived in, you are more likely to be at risk.”

The Sussex Police website points out that, “
The enemy of the burglar is noise and time. Burglars can be put off if your security measures mean that the burglars have to take a lot of time, or make a lot of noise.”

Mr Whiting added, “This is why 6ft high timber fencing or gates to the side of your property can be so important- it is just one extra hurdle for those looking to take without consent. Our driveway gates in hardwood are particularly popular at this time of year and are available in a range of sizes.”

What’s more, the Hardwood driveway gates available from AVS Fencing can also be produced to suit manual operation or gate automation where the gate is strengthened to stand the riggers of automation.

Alternatively, for homeowners looking for something a little more subtle, high level garden gates available from AVS Fencing could provide the perfect solution to your security needs.

The timber closeboard gate makes use of the traditional garden gate construction and is a cost effective and lightweight style of fence that will not look out of place with a range of different garden fencing types. AVS are able to manufacture a wide range of bespoke timber garden gates as well as the range shown on their website, to suit all needs and requirements.

AVS Fencing Helping You Keep Your Pets Safe

Earlier this year, BBC Crimewatch featured the protection of domestic pets, which are often stolen for a number of reasons, including reward money, profit, illegal fights and breeding. Considering the current economic climate, thieves looking to make a quick buck may resort to anything and so AVS Fencing, a leading provider of decking, driveway gates and wooden fencing, is encouraging pet owners to consider pet fencing, to further protect their beloved companions.

Dog mesh, available from AVS Fencing, is extremely cost-effective and is ideal for fencing rural gardens and boundaries, in conjunction with machined fencing stakes. This is one of the firm’s most popular pet fencing products and is available in a height of 1.20 Metres. Dogs who like to dig to escape under conventional fences may need the bottom of the fence sunk into the ground or the wire netting to be erected in a similar manner to rabbit netting.

A spokesperson from the firm, which also offers fence panels, electric fencing and sleepers, said, “Here at AVS Fencing, we take pet protection very seriously, which is why we offer this range. We can supply fence panels or post and rail fencing with wire mesh, which can be used to create sturdy barriers that will help secure your pets within a perimeter, or we can supply products such as our Petsafe Radio Fence Kit, which can be used to keep your pets within a strict boundary”

The team at AVS Fencing can help you choose the right pet fencing solution for you. The dedicated team can be contacted via an e-mail form on their website or by telephone and you can even request a call back.

Timber Posts Vs. Concrete Fence Posts – The Real Winner?

Timber and concrete fence posts have long been praised on their own merit but for the average homeowner, the choice can be baffling.  To this end, journalist Tina Clough spoke to AVS Fencing Supplies a leading provider of wooden fencing, railway sleepers and decking, to find out which one is the real winner.

Mark Whiting, marketing director of AVS Fencing who supply fencing panels and decking materials said, “Concrete and timber fence posts both have their individual advantages so it is important to consider both when making your choice.

“Concrete posts can look more utilitarian and harsher than timber fence posts which many consider to be the more attractive of the two options, but they are extremely low maintenance and long lasting.

“These posts are ideal for those who want a purpose specific solution but lack the time for maintenance work and essential repairs.  Having said that, providing that you purchase a high quality timber fence post, these can also be very long lasting.”

Despite popular belief, a timber fence post is only as good as the chemical treatment it has received, and despite appearances, it is always important to check what you are investing in.

Mr Whiting added, “Here at AVS Fencing, we have launched a range of timber fence posts that have been through a thorough treatment process for longer life.  This means that our sawn timber posts are kiln dried prior to treatment, so that they accept the treatment deep into the fence post.

Using carefully selected pine (redwood) posts which have been kiln dried to around 28 per-cent moisture content, the team at AVS Fencing, make sure that each post is then treated with a special ACQ treatment process to give the fence posts high protection from insect damage and fungal decay.

One of the most popular products featured on the website which has been hailed by both consumers and the team at AVS Fencing, includes the Concrete Slotted Fence Posts.  One of this posts major benefits is that fencing panels are held within its slots requiring no nails or fixings, which means that if you need to carry out maintenance work, the panels can easily be lifted out and replaced with a new one in no time.

AVS Fencing Don a Set Of Wheels For The Stock Hatchback Motorsport Series

AVS Fencing the leading suppliers of wooden fencing, Railway Sleepers and decking are swapping their gardening expertise for a set of wheels after they decided to support both their finance director and their management trainee in the Stock Hatchback Motorsport Series.

The involvement of AVS Fencing has seen the firm support their own after the success of last year, where the fencing specialists sponsored just one car in the Hot Hatchback Series at the 750 motor club, for owner driver Mike Webb otherwise known as their finance director.

Mark Whiting, marketing director of AVS Fencing who supply fencing panels and decking materials said, “After the great success of last year, the team decided to support not only Mike in this years series but also Rory Cooper our management trainee.“

On the most recent race event held at Snetterton on the 19th and 20th September, both cars were in attendance including Rory Cooper in his Saxo VTR and Mike Webb in his Saxo VTR.  Although both drivers suffered with poor qualifying, placing them at positions 24 and 21 on the grid, the heat saw Rory finish at position 13 and Mike at position 14 putting them both in the final which was a great achievement.

Despite the tough task ahead of the duo, Mike managed to continue to make progress and by lap 8 he was up to 15th place, taking a staggering 19 places. This was unusual and it was a tremendous drive until on the last corner whilst breaking late in an attempt to take 14th place, Rory hit the car in front damaging his bumper and smashing the front lights amongst other bits. The net result was that he dropped 4 places in the last 200 yards due to damage, but it was still a great drive, proving that despite the car needing further development this winter work Rory and the car has genuine top 10 potential.

Mr Whiting from the fencing panel specialists added, “We have really enjoyed following the progress of Mike and Rory, and with a bit of luck we will be able to continue our sponsorship of the duo way into 2010.”

AVS Lower Their Prices In Anticipation Of The ‘Big Freeze’

AVS Fencing, a leading supplier of wooden fencing, Railway Sleepers and decking, are encouraging gardeners to put their best green foot forward in a bid to get their gardens into shape before the cold weather and hard ground sets in.

Seasonally, October is the last chance saloon for any gardeners wanting to spruce up their backyard before the frost and hard ground sets in, which is why the team at AVS Fencing are offering those with a passion for the outdoors, a range of products at discounted prices for a limited time.

Mark Whiting, marketing director of AVS Fencing who supply fencing panels and decking materials said, “We launched a series of special offers back in September which have proven so popular that we have extended them throughout October.

“It has been a hard year financially for many homeowners and this has unfortunately meant that many have neglected their outdoor space.  The message we are sending out with our latest range of special offers is that tidying up your garden ahead of the winter months need not cost the earth and we believe now really is the time to rectify some of that wear and tear.”

Wind, rain and sun can all cause your fence to look slightly ‘under the weather’ but this need not mean that you should invest in a completely brand new fence in order to keep it looking in pristine condition. Leaving a fence in a state of repair just before the cold weather sets in may mean that the fence will have to be completely replaced at a later date.

For a limited time only, AVS Fencing are offering their 6 x 6 Lap Panels Dip Treated at a reduced rate of £16.76 down from £17.96, their 2.44m Concrete Slotted Posts at a reduced rate of £10.30 down from £16.86 and even their new Softwood Railway Sleepers at a reduced rate of £14.94 down from £26.37, perfect for a spot of fencing restoration or landscaping project ahead of the winter months.

A Guide To Herb Gardens And Raised Beds For Beginners

Gardening shows and magazines have long encouraged us to cultivate flower beds and vegetable patches, but one of the easiest and most sustainable additions to any garden is a bed of fresh herbs. To this end, AVS Fencing, a leading supplier of decking, railway sleepers and wooden fencing are offering a range of products which are perfect for creating a raised bed in which to house a herb garden.

It is almost impossible to grow a bed or pot of herbs that doesn’t look fantastic and they are also very easy to grow. Like ornamental plants, there are annuals such as basil, coriander, and marjoram; perennials such as mint, fennel and thyme; woody perennials such as rosemary, lavender and sage; or even bulbs such as chives. The popularity of herb gardens has increased in recent years as more and more people are cooking at home and want to source fresh herbs without having to pay expensive supermarket prices.

Herbs grow best in a hot, sunny spot. In these conditions they’ll make the highest level of the aromatic oils that give them their smell and taste. They also prefer well-drained soil, and many people choose to grow a selection of popular kitchen herbs in a raised bed.

Mark Whiting, marketing director of AVS Fencing who supply railway sleepers and fencing panels said, “Raised beds are a popular way to create a lovely herb garden and they are really useful when your soil is not suitable for herbs. Herbs don’t like wet, sticky clay, for example and so if your soil is like this you can create a new raised bed using fresh soil that will be perfect.”

Railway sleepers are one way of creating a stylish, simple raised bed. AVS Fencing Supplies stock a huge range of new softwood and hardwood railway sleepers which are ideal for building a raised bed to house a range of herbs. Don’t forget to place the raised bed in a sunny site if you’re thinking of using it as a herb garden!

Mr Whiting from the fencing panel supply specialists added, “It is important to design your herb garden to take into account the various herbs you will be growing. Taller plants should be placed at the back of the bed with low growing plants at the front. It is also worth considering what sort of theme you would like in your herb garden. Are you looking for an Italian herb garden, spicy herbs, medicinal herbs or just everyday herbs for cooking?”

Whatever type of herb garden you are looking to grow, AVS Fencing has the materials for you to create the perfect dry, bed to house your gardening finery. For more information, please visit their website at http://www.avsfencing.co.uk/retail/.
